Dean Left Handed Acoustic Guitars
This Dean Guitar Company was produced with the thought of bringing unique guitars to musicians at reasonable prices. The particular Dean classical solid top acoustic guitar has suited that bill for over 30 years now in all aspects of guitars, which includes classical acoustics. So once I found out about the Dean classical top acoustic guitar, I had to give it a look. Specifically the left handed acoustic guitars they feature.
First, all of us I observed how much it cost. If you think you can not pay for a Dean guitar, I ask you to think again. This one carries a budget range of over two hundred dollars, depending on places you purchase. The MSRP is over three hundred dollars, so you are killing on the price tag right out or the gate. Nevertheless never be tricked with the affordable tag. Dean made several good characteristics into their Espana series classical guitars.
The body and sides are mahogany, which gives the instrument a real nice, even, mellow tone. The top is made of a solid piece of cedar. This means that the vibration is even all around the top of the guitar and is literally pulled from the neck and out through the sound hole. Dean has forgone any decorations on the top or body (aside from the inlaid rosette) to alleviate any sound dampening, so you get crystal clear quality in every note.
Now there are classic dreadnought bodies as well as single cutaways. Whatever you prefer, Dean supplies it nicely. In left handed acoustic guitars, that is a major factor. So many times, a left hand player will simply spin the body around and the cutaway is on the wrong side. With the Dean classical solid top left handed acoustic guitar, that is no longer a problem for all you lefties out there.
The neck is set at a 650mm scale with 19 frets. Yeah the neck is not the standard 22 or 23 fret scale, but how often does a classical guitarist use those high registers? The result is a more manageable size that sits well in the left handed acoustic position. The neck joins the body at the 12th fret and the cutaway gives you easy access to the remaining 7 frets.
The neck is also mahogany overlaid with rosewood for a warp free, smooth action unrivaled among classical acoustic guitars. Coupled with the standard jumbo acoustic frets, the action is simply amazing and the sound you get out of this instrument is astounding. Up at the headstock are tuning keys that are of great quality as well so you don’t need to worry about falling out of tune.
As an added bonus, most of the Espana series of Dean classical solid top left handed acoustic guitars are electrified with an onboard pre-amp/tuner combo. So you can play small venues or larger ones with the same guitar. The amplification option is there if you need it and the quality is fantastic. The onboard tuning makes it possible to tune on the fly without having to switch guitars. Just turn off the preamp and you can “quiet” tune while you talk to your audience a bit.
All in all, the Dean classical solid top acoustics are tops among left handed acoustic guitars. The price is right and it is a great piece of workmanship and a fabulous deal.
